Veintinueve de Mayo – Memorial Day FIESTA!

Memorial Day Celebration Fiesta in the Park This year’s annual Memorial Day picnic is taking on a south of the border flavor in the tradition of Cinco de Mayo – just 24 days later. Our resident Mexican food BBQ chefs will be cooking up pork carnitas, carne asada, pollo asada and grilled veggies as the stuffing for make-your-own tacos and burritos. The meats, veggies will be supplied but we’ll need help with all sides and fixings. Mari Lenton has graciously volunteered to coordinate the list of who’s bringing what so either private message here or email at mplenton@cox.net.

We’re also having a Salsa and Guacamole Challenge – so if you have a secret recipe for amazing fresh salsa and you want to put it up against the best of your neighbors, the gauntlet has been thrown. Like the BBQ Throwdown last year, judging will be done using the somewhat non-coerced blind ticket-voting by attendees. Prizes will be awarded for each category – so BRING IT!

Just bring yourselves, guests, friends, whomever (all are welcome) a south of the border inspired appetizer/side/dessert/add-on (but check with Mari first so we all don’t end up bringing bean dip or something), your beverage of choice and comfortable seating. We do have picnic tables down there and we’ll have a couple pop-ups like previous events – but you are welcome to bring whatever you’d like to make yourself comfortable. We’ll have horseshoes, cornhole and other lawn games – but feel free to bring your sets or games. Please RSVP below so we can get a rough head-count to make sure we have enough of everything.
